Hey Dudes!
So Snow White came out… and it bombed. Everyone saw it coming. A lot of people are blaming the “woke” stuff, but honestly, I think that lets them off too easy. It was a remake nobody asked for.
And the only people who might have wanted to see it were fans of the original—the same people Disney spent the last few years telling that the original was problematic and outdated. So basically, they told their only potential audience to fuck off.
Who the hell was this movie even for?
I wonder what would’ve happened if they just remade it straight—kept the same story, same tone, same characters—and didn’t spend years slagging off the original. It probably still wouldn’t win any awards, but I bet fans of the original would’ve taken their great-grandkids to go see it. You know, nostalgia? The thing remakes are supposed to be built on?
I dunno. Out of all the dumbass movie ideas, this was the most likely to bomb—but they went ahead anyway.
Just stop with the remakes already. I get the theory: remaking an old IP means there’s already an audience, so there’s a better chance of making money. But that only works if you don’t insult the fans of the original.
Make new shit. Take some risks. And for the love of God—stop with the political crap.
